NonViolent Crisis Intervention Training
According to www.crisisprevention.com, the Crisis Prevention Institute is an international training organization that specializes in the safe management of disruptive and assaultive behavior. CPI provides safe behavior management best practices and innovative resources to professionals around the world who are committed to creating safe and respectful work environments.
“CPI’s Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training is based on the philosophy of providing the best care, welfare, safety, and security for everyone involved in a crisis situation. The program focuses on prevention and offers proved strategies for resolving situations when confronted by anxious, hostile, or violent behavior. During the program, participants learn how to de-escalate potentially dangerous behavior and how to most safely intervene should physical restraint techniques become necessary.”
The Centennial BOCES Special Education Department is proud to offer this training to member districts at no additional cost for administrators and special education staff. Individuals must attend a full day initial training and then must attend a recertification training every two years thereafter in order to keep their certification current.
